Water, Sewer, and Refuse Rates
All rates may be changed periodically based upon operational and/or capital needs of the system.

Water, sewer, and refuse bills are prepared quarterly for residential properties and monthly for commercial or larger residential properties by the Borough of West Reading.
The Borough of West Reading’s current water, sewer, and refuse rates are as follows:
Water Rates
- Residential Quarterly: Minimum billing 400 cubic feet $39.92; Over 400 cubic feet $7.41 per 100 cubic feet
- Commercial Quarterly: Minimum billing 400 cubic feet $46.68 (per unit); Over 400 cubic feet $9.29 per 100 cubic feet
- Residential Monthly: Minimum billing 133 cubic feet $14.28; Over 133 cubic feet $9.51 per 100 cubic feet
- Commercial Monthly: Minimum billing 133 cubic feet $15.58 (per unit); Over 133 cubic feet $10.38 per 100 cubic feet
Sewer Rates
- Quarterly Residential: Minimum billing 900 cubic feet $36.74; Over 900 cubic feet $4.10 per 100 cubic feet
- Quarterly Commercial: Minimum billing 900 cubic feet $36.74; Over 900 cubic feet $4.10 per 100 cubic feet
- Monthly Residential: Minimum billing 300 cubic feet $13.72; Over 300 cubic feet $4.57 per 100 cubic feet
- Monthly Commercial: Minimum billing 300 cubic feet $13.72; Over 300 cubic feet $4.57 per 100 cubic feet
Refuse Rates
- Quarterly: $100 per unit (This rate increase was necessary to fully fund operational costs incurred by the Borough)
- Monthly: $33.33 per unit
Sewer Maintenance Rates
- Residential: Computed at the rate of 75% of the total sewer charge on a monthly or quarterly period.
- Commercial: Computed at the rate of 90% of the total sewer charge for commercial and industrial properties on a monthly or quarterly period.
Sewer Jet Service Fee:
As of January 1, 2023 a quarterly $5 fee is assessed against all single family residential properties to allow the Public Works Department to hydro jet the lateral sewer lines for both the property owner and Borough during instances of sewer backups.
Penalty Rate
Ten percent (10%) of total service fees.
