Hydrant Flushing

Periodically, you will see Fire Department personnel releasing water from hydrants. Hydrant flushing is necessary to test hydrants and ensure adequate flow and pressure are available.
Flushing is also used to remove sediment from distribution pipes to maintain water clarity and quality. Any cloudiness in your water is due to tiny air bubbles. Like any bubbles, air rises to the surface of the water and escapes into the air, clearing the water.
The following dates are planned for 2026:
- Week of April 13 – 16
- Week of October 19 – 22
Flushing on these dates will begin at 8:00 p.m. and end at 11:00 p.m.
