The following ordinance amendments are currently under consideration by the West Reading Borough Council. Please note that Borough Council may make amendments before final approval. Local ordinances are reviewed, recommended, and passed through civic engagement.
Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance (LERTA)
This amendment would allow borough-wide new development projects to annually increase their real estate tax payments by 10% each year. By year ten, 100% of property taxes would be paid. Â Â
Time Limit & Handicapped Parking Amendments
This amendment would remove a number of residential handicapped parking spaces and add two spaces, one on the 600 Block of Franklin Street, and one on the 200 Block of South Fourth Avenue. An update to time-limit parking would remove duplicate regulations on North Fifth Avenue.Â
Borough Council plans to vote on adopting these amendments during the Council meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.Â
