Application for Appeal to the Zoning Hearing Board

The following documentation must be submitted to file an appeal to the Zoning Hearing Board. Seven copies of all documentation is required.

  • Complete the Notice of Appeal or Application to the Borough of West Reading Zoning Hearing Board.
  • Provide two copies of the current deed of record and a brief description and location of the property to be affected by such proposed change or appeal.
  • A reasonably accurate description of the new construction, addition or changes intended to be made under this application indicating the size, height and uses of such proposed improvements.
  • A plot plan of the property to be affected indicating the location and size of the lot and the size of existing and intended improvements. Plot plans shall be clear, legible and accurately drawn to scale.
  • Submittal of appropriate fees. Check or money order payable to the Borough of West Reading.
  • The first hearing before the board shall commence within 60 days from the date of receipt of the application, unless the applicant has agreed in writing to an extension of time.
  • The applicant has the right to be represented by counsel and shall be afforded the opportunity to respond and present evidence.
  • The Board shall keep a stenographic record of the proceedings.
  • The Board shall render a written decision, or when no decision is called for, make written findings on the application within 45 days after the last hearing.
  • A copy of the final decision, or where no decision is called for, of the findings shall be delivered to the applicant.
