Single Stream Recycling
The Borough of West Reading values making the earth a better place to live by offering enhanced recycling services. In an effort to recycle as much material as possible please recycle the following:
- Glass food and beverage containers (brown, clear or green)
- Aluminum and tin cans
- Plastics with symbols #1, 2 & 5
- Newspaper (clean & dry, no food contact)
- Cardboard (dry & flattened, no food contact)
- Magazines/Catalogs/Telephone Books
- Cartons (i.e. juice, milk, broth, wine, cereal)
Materials Not Accepted:
- Microwave trays
- Mirrors
- Window or auto glass
- Light bulbs
- Ceramics
- Porcelain
- Plastics (without number recycle symbol)
- Coat hangers
- Glass cookware/bake ware
- Household items such as cooking pots, toasters, etc.
- Plastic grocery bags, tableware, food wrappers, bubble wrap
- Styrofoam
- Shredded paper
Reminder:
- All glass containers must be empty and free of metal caps and rings and contain less than 5% food debris.
- All tin cans, bi-metal cans, and aluminum cans must be empty and contain less than 5% food debris.
- All aerosol cans must be empty with less than 5% content.
- All plastic containers must be empty, caps removed; less than 5% food debris.
- All fiber must be dry and free of food debris and other contaminating material.
- Tissues, paper towels or other paper that has been in contact with food is not acceptable.
Loads not meeting the above specifications may be rejected in whole or in part by the company.
