CodeRED Emergency Notification Program

Code Red

The CodeRED™ Emergency Notification System is a service by which municipal officials can notify residents and businesses in the West Side Regional Emergency Management Agency area by phone, email, or via in-app notifications about emergency situations or critical community alerts. The system can send messages only to people affected by a particular situation, or in the case of a widespread emergency to the areas entire population. The speed of the CodeRED system can send a message to affected households at a rate of up to 50,000 calls per hour.

We encourage our residents who have smartphones to download the app. The app enables us to send notifications to only those residents in the affected area of the alert, reducing false alarms. The app is available for a free download on iTunes or Google Play. An enhanced feature of the app allows registered participants to see active alerts for the entire county within a 5,000-mile radius of your current location. To enroll, text "WSREMA" to 99411 to enroll in West Reading Borough's CodeRed emergency alert program.
