Snow Emergency

Snow Emergency

Whenever the Mayor finds, on the basis of falling snow, sleet, freezing rain, or as a result of a forecast by the U.S. Weather Bureau or other weather forecasting service of snow, sleet or freezing rain, that the weather conditions will make it necessary that motor vehicle traffic be expedited and that parking or standing on Borough Streets be prohibited or restricted for snow plowing and other purposes, the Mayor shall put into effect a parking prohibition on Snow Emergency Routes.

In addition, when there has been an accumulation of snow and/or ice of four inches (4") or more between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., a parking prohibition shall automatically go into effect on Snow Emergency Routes. All residents and businesses along the Snow Emergency Routes shall remove all parked vehicles from those streets. All vehicles shall then remain off those streets until the Snow Emergency has been lifted. This again will be announced on all local radio and TV stations.

Any vehicle that remains parked on those streets shall be subject to a parking fine of $25 and the vehicle being towed. If you live or work on any of the streets listed below, please remember to listen to our local radio stations or visit our website for information pertaining to an approaching winter weather event.

One never knows when you'll need a little neighborly assistance. Unfortunately, less than half of Americans actually know the people in their communities, a fact that becomes all that more acute when it comes to needing cups of sugar or dealing with snowstorm aftermath. Make an effort to get to know your neighbor and assist each other in staying safe.

If a snow emergency occurs during a business day, contact Borough Hall at (610) 374-8273 when all vehicles are removed to request plowing of your block.
