DESCRIPTION:The biweekly Sunday Winter Farmers’ Market will take place in the West Reading Shopping Center parking lot\, 525 Penn Avenue\, West Reading\, from 10 AM to 12 PM\, rain or shine. \nThe WRFM is celebrating its 19th season as a year-round\, outdoor\, producer-only market\, meaning every vendor is a hand-picked\, small-scale farmer (produce\, livestock\, or dairy) or a food business located within 50 miles of West Reading. Each item is grown\, raised\, or hand-made. Our goals include educating our customer base on the benefits and positive impact of supporting locally grown and produced foods. We offer a variety of seasonal vegetables and fruits\, artisan pastries\, organic breads and sweet treats\, pastured meats and poultry and eggs\, cheeses\, raw local honey\, hand-made ravioli\, pierogi\, and pasta\, cooking oils\, roasted coffee and tea\, fresh cut flowers\, herbal tinctures and body products\, locally fermented cider\, and beer. We encourage our value-added producers to use local ingredients wherever possible.

The tradition began in 1928 when the first tree lighting was held in front of Borough Hall with only a few Council Members present. Little did our forefathers know that they launched what became a tree lighting tradition! The tree lighting ceremony was moved to Delaney Circle in the 1990’s where we can celebrate the night air with music\, dancing\, and warm wishes. \nFollowing the ceremony at Delaney Circle join us at St. James Church for an opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Clause!

SUMMARY:Battle of the West Reading Karaoke Stars
DESCRIPTION:Its’s that time again…. It’s time for the Battle of the West Reading Karaoke Stars! Will you be named the Champion? Trophy & bragging rights included. \nThis amazing competition comes around twice a year\, and it’s your time to shine\, all while raising money for West Reading Recreation. All funds raised during this competition\, helps the volunteers at the rec commission continue to put on amazing community events. \nRegistrations open’s at 3pm. Registration is $10. Get there early\, as we usually have lots of contestants and have to cut it of at 25 because of time. Each contestant will sing one song\, and the audience will vote with dollars for their favorites. The judges will also make some choices. The Judges choices\, and top vote earners will move on to the final round to battle it out for one last song. The judges will pick a judge’s champion from the final round\, but the audience will again vote with dollars and the top vote earner will be names the Battle Champion. So\, invite your friends and make sure they bring dollars to vote for you. \n****Remember\, it’s Karaoke\, not American Idol. You don’t need to be an amazing singer; you just need to be willing to have fun and put on a good show to get the crowd to vote for you and be willing to raise money for West Reading Recreation. Costumes\, Air instruments\, back up dancers\, etc. are all encouraged. We want you and the audience to have an amazing time. \n**Judges will be announced soon \n**You don’t have to live in West Reading \n**There is no age requirement to compete \n*********The best part about this competition is the top 10 will be invited to compete against Muhlenberg\, and potentially another townships top 10 in the ultimate Karaoke Battle for the Bragging rights to be the Berks County Karaoke Battle Champion! That competition is being worked out for September at Jim Dietrich Park in Muhlenberg and the details will be announced soon.
