Borough of West Reading Announces Launch of Online Public Survey Map for Activate West Reading Plan
January 14, 2026 – West Reading, PA — The Borough of West Reading has officially launched its Activate West Reading planning effort, a new initiative aimed at making walking and biking safer, easier, and more accessible for everyone in the community. As part of this effort, the Borough is excited to announce the opening of an interactive online public survey map, where residents can share their firsthand experiences and ideas.
The Activate West Reading Plan focuses on improving walking and biking connections between neighborhoods north of Penn Avenue and major destinations to the south, including local parks and the West Reading Elementary Center. The study area includes the neighborhoods and streets bounded by Chestnut Street (south), 5th Avenue (west), Reading Avenue (north), and 3rd Avenue (east).
“Resident feedback is essential to shaping a plan that responds to real needs,” said Borough Manager, Randy Miller. “This interactive tool gives every community member an opportunity to guide safety improvements and help us understand where connections can be better.”
Online Interactive Map Now Open
Residents can now visit the project’s interactive survey map to identify problem areas, note key destinations, and highlight opportunities for improvement. Click on “Add a feature to the map” to identify Safety Concerns, Improvement Ideas, Key Destinations, and/or Preferred Routes.
By simply dropping pins on the map, participants can share comments and help shape the future of mobility in West Reading. Move the ‘+’ arrow and drop it at the location. Then identify what the mark represents.
