Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer

Community Gardeners need to optimize certain conditions in order to produce high-quality mature compost without nuisance odors and pests. Do you have a green thumb? The Borough is seeking volunteers to help build and support a composting program. From teenagers to seniors, everyone is welcome to join in and watch our plants grow. Although no previous experience is required, we encourage veteran gardeners to lend their knowledge to our program. This would be a great project for scouts, high school seniors, horticulture and agriculture students and other local volunteers looking to develop and share this skill.

There are lots of resources online and within our group of members to help develop the composting system for the Community Garden, but we need a "Compost Manager" who can commit to visiting the garden at least once per week to tend to the compost material. We also have a goal of hosting a composting workshop.

Thank you for your support as we aim to make the Community Garden an even happier, healthier place for our residents! Please contact Samantha Kaag if you are interested in volunteering your skills.
